To find the answer....
Has anyone seen those Yellow Book commercials with David Carradine from the old Kung Fu show? It cracks me up every time I see it. He's soooo serious, and truthfully, while he looks older, he still looks like the same character.
I've noticed lately that a lot of the commercials seem specifically aimed at us Baby Boomers - the music, the references - how long has it been since you've seen Orville Redenbacher? So I'm awash in nostalgia and wondering why the hell I don't have the money to spend on all the cars, jewelry, music, food, etc. that these commercials seem to think I should have.
Also, it's making me feel a bit old - which I'm NOT - notice the capital NOT. When I mention the intro to any of the CSI's is a Who song, my kids say, who's the Who? Puleeze.... can it be possible that our children have no concept of good music? No, wait... it seems like they've been through the years of their life rediscovering Eric Clapton, unplugged, and such, so maybe there's hope for them yet.
Oh, well, the best thing to come out of it, I guess, is I've gone back to my youth to rediscover some of my favorite music to write to...and it works! I love being able to listen to something that really inspires me, wakes me up or makes me sad, because that flows over into my words (I hope), and hopefully makes its way to the reader.
Anyway, just wanted to see how many of you out there are wondering the same thing.
